FMGE and NExT: Your Path to Practicing in India

If you're studying MBBS abroad and plan to practice in India, understanding these exams is crucial.

What is FMGE?

The Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) is conducted by NBE (National Board of Examinations) for graduates of foreign medical universities who wish to practice in India.

**Format**: 300 MCQs

**Subjects**: All 19 subjects of MBBS

**Passing score**: 150/300 (50%)

**Conducted**: Twice a year (June & December)

What is NExT?

The National Exit Test (NExT) is a proposed exam that will replace both FMGE and the final-year university exam.

Will be mandatory for all medical graduates (Indian and foreign)

Will serve as a licensing exam and PG entrance exam

Expected to be implemented soon

Preparation Tips

1. Start preparing from 3rd year onwards

2. Focus on clinical subjects

3. Practice MCQ banks regularly

4. Join a coaching program

5. Take mock tests

Pass Rates

With proper preparation, the FMGE pass rate has been improving. Students from NMC-approved universities with good clinical training tend to perform better.
